Overview
If FUYL™ Locker discovery (Bluetooth) issues are encountered while onboarding the locker using the iOS FUYL™ Kiosk app, this article offers some suggestions on how they may be addressed.
Bluetooth Range
Bluetooth connections can be sensitive to distance. To ensure a strong connection between the FUYL Kiosk (iPad) and the FUYL Locker, make sure they are in close proximity. Ideally, the FUYL™ Kiosk iPad should be installed to the side or within 10 feet of the FUYL Locker. Physical obstacles, like walls or other Lockers, can interfere with the Bluetooth signal, so try to minimize such barriers.
Bluetooth Permissions
For the FUYL™ Kiosk to detect the locker, Bluetooth permissions need to be enabled on your iOS device.
Process
- Open the Settings app on your iOS device.
- Scroll down and select the FUYL™ Kiosk App (e.g., “FUYL Kiosk”).
- Tap on Bluetooth.
- Ensure the switch next to Bluetooth is turned on (green).
If Bluetooth permissions were previously disabled, enabling them will allow the FUYL™ Kiosk to detect the FUYL™ Locker.
Existing Cloud Enrolment
The FUYL™ Locker cannot be set up with FUYL™ Enhanced if is already onboarded to FUYL™ Essentials, Advanced or other Enhanced. Before proceeding further, ensure the locker isn't currently associated with any other accounts or platforms.
Process
Log into any existing accounts that may be linked to the smart locker and check the setup status within those accounts.
If it is associated with an existing FUYL™ Essentials or Advanced account, use the Migration tool to set up FUYL™ Enhanced.
The Locker must be set up in the same organization's FUYL™ Essentials or Advanced portal in order to be detected during migration. If this is not the case, the Locker will need to be "Forgotten" from its current management portal before beginning a new set up process.
Restarting Both Devices
Environmental issues can sometimes result in a disconnection or disabling of hardware or software features in both the FUYL™ Locker and Kiosk. To eliminate these as possible issues, restart both devices and try again.
Process (Kiosk)
- Swipe up from the bottom of the iPad screen and pause in the middle to view open apps.
- Swipe left or right to find the FUYL™ Kiosk App.
- Swipe the app off the top of the screen to close it.
- Reopen the app and try connecting again.
It may also be worth restarting the iPad itself.
- Press and hold either volume button and the top button until the power-off slider appears.
- Drag the slider, then wait 30 seconds for your device to turn off.
Process (FUYL™ Locker)
- Remove the power to the FUYL™ Locker by unplugging it from the outlet.
- Wait at least 10 seconds.
- Plug the power back in and wait for the FUYL™ Locker to start up.
- Once the display reads "Ready to set up" and a unique ID, retry connection in the app.
