Overview
The FUYL Smart Locker System can be configured to allow users to quickly authenticate at a FUYL Kiosk using either a Login ID or Barcode. These options provide faster access compared to SSO authentication.
Common Types of Login IDs
Examples of suitable Login ID attributes include but are not limited to:
- Employee number
- Student ID number
- Lunch code
- Student or employee ID card with a barcode
The term "Login ID" is used generically to cover any accessible attribute assigned to a user in a configured Identity Provider.
Benefits and Limitations
Faster authentication: Login ID and Barcode methods can be significantly quicker than using a username and password to authenticate.
Security trade-off: While faster, these methods are less secure compared to more robust authentication methods like SSO with MFA.
Using Login ID or Barcode
When a device user initiates a workflow at the FUYL Kiosk, they will be presented with a sign-in screen for either barcode scanning or entering a Login ID.
Barcode scanning: The FUYL Kiosk iPad’s camera is used to scan the barcode from the user’s ID card (e.g., student or employee card).
Login ID entry: Users can input their Login ID (e.g., employee number or lunch code) to authenticate.
The system is designed to be intuitive and quick for users, particularly in high-traffic scenarios.
