Overview
FUYL™ Standalone Mode is designed for users who require a self-serve, non-connected charging solution. While FUYL™ Smart Lockers are most effective when integrated with cloud management options such as FUYL™ Essentials, Advanced, or Enhanced, the Standalone Mode provides basic functionality without requiring an internet connection or an active subscription. In this mode, users can still charge and secure their devices, but advanced features like remote management and detailed reporting will not be available.
This guide outlines how to enable Standalone Mode on your FUYL™ locker and provides troubleshooting steps to ensure smooth operation.
Enabling FUYL™ Standalone Mode
Prerequisites
This guide assumes you have a new or recently factory-reset locker with a firmware version equal to or greater than 2.12.0. The Locker's screen should state "Ready to set up" and present a unique ID, similar to the following image:
If your Locker instead shows "Enter bay number", it may be one of the following:
- The locker is already in Standalone Mode
- The locker is enrolled in a FUYL™ Essentials or Advanced account, and should be removed prior to enabling Standalone Mode (Contact Support or your FUYL™ Admin for help here)
Process
- Enter the Admin Menu on your FUYL™ Locker by pressing "00" followed by "OK" on the PIN pad.
The "00" may not appear on the screen but will still be registered by the system. If this does not work, press "Cancel," wait 5 seconds, and try again. - Select "Standalone mode" (Option 2)
- Confirm your selection with "OK
The Locker will restart in Standalone Mode.
Enabling FUYL™ Standalone Mode while enrolled in Essentials or Advanced
Should you wish to remove your locker from the FUYL™ Portal, select it in the portal Dashboard interface, then select "Settings" in the right-hand menu and finally select "Forget Station".
If the locker is connected, it will perform a factory reset and you can begin enabling Standalone Mode as per above.
If the locked is not connected, you will need to manually perform a factory reset as described below.
Using FUYL™ Standalone Mode
Reserving and Accessing Bays
In Standalone Mode, the default bay state is "Available", represented by a green LED.
Reserving a bay
Anyone can approach the locker and select an available bay number.
The locker will then prompt for a PIN or RFID to secure the bay against. If a PIN is entered, it will need to be confirmed with a second entry before the reservation is saved.
Once the door is closed after a reservation, the bay LED will change to white, indicating the bay is reserved. Only the PIN/RFID set above or an Admin can access the bay in this state.
Accessing a bay
When a user returns to a bay they have reserved, they can select the same bay number and use the same PIN/RFID they set on reservation to unlock and open the bay. Once the bay door is closed, the LED turns green as it becomes available for the next user.
PIN Requirements
In Standalone Mode, a PIN to reserve a bay must contain at least four digits and not contain a common number sequence or repetition (eg 1234 or 0000)
RFID Requirements
Standalone Mode supports the same RFID formats as our Lockers in any other mode.
In rare cases, an RFID source (card/fob) may present a cycling (variable) CSN/UID, which may allow a bay to open, but not be accessed on return! In this case, the Locker Administrator will have to release the bay and clear the reservation manually.
Administering FUYL™ Standalone Mode
FUYL™ Standalone Mode allows only limited administration functions. Should you require access to more advanced configuration, contact us for our FUYL™ Essentials, Advanced or Enhanced management options.
Accessing the Admin menu
While the display shows "Enter bay number", press "00" followed by "OK" on the PIN pad.
There are timeouts and limitations on how to enter this sequence, so ensure that nothing has been pressed for 5 seconds prior, and that entering the sequence takes no longer than 2 seconds.
When prompted for a PIN or RFID, enter the Admin PIN or present the Admin RFID.
The PIN is "31082018" by default, and should be changed on first setup as described below.
Admin Menu Options
Bay Access
- Unlock bay: Unlocks and opens a bay
- Clear bay: Clears a bay reservation
- Toggle offline: Toggles a bay offline if online or online if offline (no LED)
- Unlock all bays: Unlocks and opens all bays
Test Read RFID
Test RFID cards using the locker's RFID reader. This can be useful when to discover how the FUYL Locker reads your RFID card.
After selecting this option, you will be prompted to scan an RFID card. The card’s details will be shown on the screen, including the card type (pro models only), the HEX and DEC card values.
System status
- Network status: Displays the Ethernet and Wi-Fi IPs, MACs & the Portal address of the locker
- Network config: Displays the network configuration (Static vs DHCP etc)
- System clock: Displays the system time and timezone
- Software version: Displays the firmware revision
Tower restart
Restarts/Reboots the locker's control door.
Should you wish to reboot the locks/bays themselves, remove power to the locker for at least 30 seconds.
Address locks
This function resets and reconnects the lock control of each bay.
This should only be performed at the request of a LocknCharge representative.
Factory reset
This function resets the locker to its factory defaults.
Admin Credential
This option is used to change admin credentials on lockers not yet onboarded to the FUYL Portal.
- Admin access PIN: Allows setting of a new, 8 digit PIN (to replace existing or default PIN)
- Admin access RFID Allows setting of a new RFID access code (You will need a compatible RFID card to set)
