The following guide will help configure a locker to allow a user to drop off a broken device requiring an administrator’s attention, and to be returned to that user once ready.
This workflow can be achieved using either Public or Managed mode, depending on whether authentication is needed. This guide assumes the locker is either in Public mode or the appropriate user access has been configured.
Configuration
- From the Connected Stations list in the Dashboard page of the FUYL Portal, select the account, node or locker on which to configure a Break/Fix workflow.
This configuration can also be made at the bay level if required. - In the Right-hand side panel, select the “Settings” tab (or “Overview” if configuring a single bay)
- Toggle the inherited/overridden switch next to “Take bay offline when accessed” and enable its switch.
Using a Break/Fix workflow
Once configured, the following process outlines a Break/Fix workflow:
- A user will approach the locker and select an available bay.
- The user will either authenticate or set credentials using a PIN or RFID card.
- The user will deposit their item and close the bay door.
- The bay will go offline.
- An administrator will approach the locker and authenticate on the admin menu OR will log into the FUYL Portal.
- The administrator will open the bay in question and remove the device before closing the door again.
- The bay will remain offline while the item is attended to (fixed).
- The administrator will return to the locker with the item and use the same process to replace it.
- The administrator will toggle the bay online.
- The user will return to the bay (or notice that it is now online and ready for collection) and access it using their credentials.
Note: The Advanced subscription tier allows for webhooks to be used to notify administrators of a bay being accessed, which could be configured to create a ticket/job for an item to be collected.
